STUD HISTORY

Back in 1958 when the stud was first founded with an FSI roan mare Wheelers Jasmine (Pendock Cresent x Judy FS). She was soon joined by two other mares purchased from Mrs Crisp, Kirby Cane Stud (who taught me the foundation of all I needed to know about Section A & B's).

The Stallion, Cenarth Blue Boy (Revel Spark x Revel Flashlight x Revel Chief), all of 10hh, he taught me all about stud duties. One of his best foals (prior to us having him) was from a TB mare called Dragonhill Red Flame, and dam of Brown Buzzrad, the Hack of the Year produced by Alister Hood. The same year, Dragonhill Rushlight, from the same mare, was Junior Show Jumper of the Year. We still have Cenarth Blue Boy bloodline within the stud through offspring of Wheelers Echo (Treharne Blue John x Kings Belinda x Cenarth Blue Boy).

When I was 7 years old I had a chestnut roan welsh pony called Tattles, having outgrown her, my mother bred a foal from her by Downland Wapiti-Maytime. Mother had the Beckfield Stud and had on loan Gredington Mynedydd, a Section B. She put all her mares to him; Maytime produced a chestnut filly Beckfield Springtime, which I brought from my mother. She bred me a lot of foals including Wheelers Summertime, the dam of Wheelers Summer Breeze, one of the foundation mares of the Barham Stud (Anne and Harry Moore). I still have a daughter of Springtime, Wheelers Daytime, who has finally left me a filly foal to carry one with the bloodline. One of Daytime's foals, Wheelers Pastime by Hafodyresgob Chuckle (Barham Stud), was sold to Godolphin for the Royal Princesses. All this line we have tried to name something-time.

In 1962 we purchased the palomino stallion Greenacres Cream Caramel who was also to prove a great asset to the stud leaving not only some very good Welsh foals but also his colour started my judging!. We still have a son of Caramel's, Wheelers Author out of Treharne Sheila who we purchased when the Treharne Stud gave up, along with Treharne Cinderella and Treharne Josephine.

In 1965 we moved to Peasenhall and purchased Crossways Dream Girl (Hinton Clown x Crossways Butterslip) and Foxhunter Swci (Coed Coch Brenin Arthur and Highcross Sunlight x Coed Coch Planed). We also brought Georgian Shandy, a little roan stallion who was to make his mark on our breeding programme. Three of his mares were Knosihall Pandora ex Knodishall Minerva and Wheelers Japonica ex Treharne Josephone and Knodishall Sapphire.

Wheelers Japonica was sold to David Brooks and was the foundation mare of the Farmbrook Stud. More of these later.

Joining us as a 2 year old in 1980 was a grey Glebe Pilgrim (Clan Pip x Ankerwycke Platinum x Coed Coch Planed). By this time we also had standing at stud with us, Mrs Franklin's stallion Revel Classic (Revel Carouso x Revel Calypso x Clan Pip). The Sire of Knodishall Diamond, Knodishall Minerva and Knodishall Tornado all out of Knodishall Swift (Twyford Shot x Bryniau Swallow). Tornado was sold to Mr & Mrs Poldervaat in Holland but came to stay with us for 3 years at stud and to be shown.
