Diamond was sold as a foal to John Hammond and won all he could in hand and in private driving, driven by Deborah Holt, and Knodiahll Minerva came to us having produced Knodihall Pandora by Georgian Shandy (Twyford Gamcock x Gerogian Babycham x Coed Coch Socyn); also from this combination was the colt Wheelers Admiral who was sold to Germany. Knodishall Pandora was sold to the Idyllic Stud and produced many good foals for them, including Idyllic Pavlova, Royal Welsh Winner. Also a Royal welsh Winner for them is Idyllic Tosca (Pendock Legend x Wheelers Silver Shadow x Revel Classic x Foxhunter Swci). Another well known pony, Knodishall Geraint, goes back to our stallions being out of another Georgian Shandy mare, Knodishall Sapphire.
We acquired from the Knodishall Stud, Knodishall Comerie (Bengad Napeta x Knodishall Miracle x Coed Coch Planed x Knodishall Minerva). He produced a very good colt, Wheelers Herald (x Wheelers Silver Shadow x Revel Classic x Foxhunter Swci). Herald we sold to Belgium to Mr & Mrs Kerriman - Karabank Stud and we have a mare from them by Herald x Minsmere Loretta.
While judging in scotland, we saw and bought a dun colt Sunwillow Xanthus (Waxwing Hurricane x Sunwillow Grindlewald x Revel Cassino) from the waxwing Stud. He proved to cross very well with our bloodlines. Farmbrook Abelia and Farmbrook Apricot both x Wheelers Japonica have been big winners for David Brooks. We have Wheelers Peace (Sunwillow Xanthus x Wheelers Holly x Greenacres Cream Caramel). Unfortunetly Xanthus died in April 2001 of a liver virus (not ragwort poisioning). He was a wonderful character and is sorely missed round the yard; he was also a friend. We have a bay stallion left by him, Wheelers Tip Top (x Cymbelines Orange Blossom x Coed Coch Madryn); in many ways, like his father.
In 1967 we met Mr & Mrs Pershouse and helped them show their ponies which were mainly Connemaras in the beginning but they had a couple of Welsh Section As. Mr Pershouse carried on with the stud when his wife died in 1979 and on a visit to Fayre Oaks purchased 4 mares, Treharne Loretta, Treharne Fireworks, Russel Primadonna and Rowfant Pia II. He also bought the colt foal Dyfed Rhys from Wales and Treharne Queen Of Hearts from Mrs Egerton. In 1994 Mr Pershouse dies. Much to our surprise, leaving us the farm and 64 ponies, having 33 of our own and several mares in foal. 110 was our total by the following spring. Some of the ponies were old but very fit and well. Our next dilemma was what to do, having been at Peasenhall for 31 years with 24 acres of clay and a lovely house, our roots were deep - or 85 acres of light land and marsh with a house that needed rebuilding and neither of us getting any younger!! We moved, spending every penny we got for Peasenhall on rebuilding the house at Watermill Farm. Prior to our move we visited the Coed Coch Stud in Wales and purchased two filly foals by Brierwood Fullback now going under the prefix Bryndansi. We also got on loan the mare Bryndansi Thistle who has left us some good foals including Wheelers Spede (x Glebe Pilgrim).
We still have 60 ponies; anyone wishing to come and see them would be very welcome.
